Meet the Team

Any organization’s personality comes from the top, and Genesis Group is blessed to have Barry Aho as its founder and leader for 20 years. Barry is a true engineer at heart, and he has created many processes in the areas of design, build, sales and follow-up for Genesis Group–separating it from other landscaping companies.

What really gives Barry satisfaction is the unmatched quality of work all his customers enjoy. He loves being creative and seeing things come to fruition, taking a lot of pride in the end result and doing whatever it takes to make a satisfied customer. He also loves the diversity of people that he gets to work for, and many customers feel like family when the job is done. Barry says, “Customer satisfaction will always be the key to Genesis Group.”

Barry studied at Oregon State University, where he received a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He then spent 10 years as an engineer with Hewlett Packard (HP), during which time he had a great deal of hands-on learning in building houses outside his “real job”. He built his own home in Mountain Shadows, and continues to live on the west side of Colorado Springs with his wife, Kari. They have four awesome children.

Nan Alberts serves as Chief Financial Officer and Director of Human Resources. She joined the Genesis team in 2022. She graduated from the University of Phoenix with a BS in Accounting. Nan brings with her over three decades of experience in Finance and Human Resources, having owned and operated her own business as well as working in both corporate and non-profit companies. Nan is excited to be a part of a great group of people who create beautiful outdoor living spaces for our customers. Outside of work, Nan enjoys living life with her husband Chris, spending time with friends and enjoying the beauty of Colorado.

Amber began her career in geospatial analytics. As a cartographer, Amber mapped Vietnamese migration patterns, mines, and post-fire forest regeneration. After working for an Australian mining acquisition firm, she entered the construction trade in 2019. Amber was the operations manager of a locally owned flooring company and its subsidiaries for two years before joining Genesis Group. Amber has been married for 16 years to her high school sweetheart and has three children. On her off-time you can find her on a trail somewhere, with a book, writing a sonnet, or hanging with her family. Amber has a knack for creativity and is excited to continue developing her skill set in landscape design!

Ellijah, born and raised in Colorado Springs, is a young man who specializes in communication and coordination. His hobbies include making music, watching sports, and spending time with family. At the Air Force Academy, Ellijah worked as a subcontractor specializing in ushering, security, coning, and parking. He then worked as a roofing consultant and project manager. Since then, he has been given opportunities to lead and coordinate large ministry events. Ellijah looks forward to coordinating your next deck project!

Benjamin began his career in sales. As a Sales Rep., he worked in the Billing Software Industry selling to large and small doctor groups. He then switched his focus to Restaurant Management and spent 13 years managing multiple stores for Panera Bread. After his 13 years in the restaurant business, he felt it was time for a change and joined Genesis in January of 2023 as a Sales/Outdoor Living Consultant. He has been married for 12 years and has two children. On Benjamin's off time, you will find him coaching his son’s baseball team, engaging in outdoor activities or just hanging out with his family and friends. He enjoys being creative with crafts and projects with his family. Benjamin is excited to continue his career developing skills with Genesis Group.

Grace began her career in missions, working with Youth With A Mission for four years. Eventually she moved on to becoming a caretaker and working in the coffee and food service industry before coming to Genesis Group. Grace has always had a heart for people and for communicating with excellence. She is excited to communicate with customers, and provide people detail oriented services.

Nick grew up in the small town of Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He relocated to Colorado Springs after honorably discharging from the Marine Corps in 2016. Due to his multifaceted career as a federal contractor and as a civilian employee for the United States Air Force, Nick is seasoned in coordination with a knack for discipline. This has afforded him a high competency in complicated logistical operations and a mindset that prioritizes communication. Having traveled the world, Nick interacted with numerous cultures and ideologies affording him a keen customer service know-how. He enjoys educating others and on his off time, Nick coaches high school football. Other hobbies include riding motorcycles, restoring classic vehicles, and learning about wealth management.
